But those reveals (translated from Kryptonese) are surrounded by great action bits. Carnero gives us extreme close ups of fists and kicks and then pulls back to more choreographed images of fighting. The sequential art of the battles as you turn the page really is slick. I often blow by battle scenes. I paused here. The angles and depth are engaging. So who is Facet? I can't wait to find out. Adventures of Supergirl has a solid enough entry here though I'll admit wishing it had a bit more meat to it. But it sort of follows the TV show design in that the end of the arcs is where the stronger material is when it comes to the story, leaving the rest of it for good character interaction material (check) and solid action material (and check). Gates got the flow of this book early on for obvious reasons and Carnero has been a solid entry to the artists that we've had with it, resulting in some great layouts and an overall strong sense of impact with the fight sequences themselves. Sister power is in full effect as Kara and Alex stand side-by-side, blasting robots. Ultimately, Kara has to save the day because, you know, Alex is merely human. The mysterious Facet, who beset Psi on Kara's dreams two issues ago, reveals themselves--and proves to be nothing you'd expect! Unless you expected a chrome-plated lady, that is. Then they're exactly what you expected. This is a pretty thin chapter in the series, but still has some good moments including pretty awesome close combat scenes. I think we'll get some resolution next chapter that should help wrap this story arc into a nice, tidy package. Read Full Review
