Aquaman #14 is powerful and symbolic. Jeremy introduces the next big villain in a shocking way as the art team matches intensity through detail and coloring. There is so much to be excited for as this run hasn't skipped a beat with Darkseids tournament. Read Full Review

The introduction of Mera’s mother, Crimson Queen Lolanna Merana Challa, is an added element of storytelling not only to Mera and Arthur Curry, but also to Atlantis. The tension already building between Mera and her mother will be a detail that makes the next issue a must-read. The art is great and goes hand in hand with the story the creative team is trying to tell. The momentum is there for the book to pull off a great story and ending. Read Full Review

A ghost from the past is seeing red with the Kingdom of Atlantis in her sights.. Adams’ writing welcomes the devious threat into play. Bayliss and Lokus set the stage for a very rocky showdown via the art. Brace for that epilogue final panel. It will have everyone talking this week. Read Full Review

If your pull list is already leaning heavy, Aquaman #14 is the kind of issue you buy only if you are locked into the K.O. storyline and need every puzzle piece on the board. The lore dump does important work for the larger myth arc, and the visuals go all in on scale, but the actual reading experience sits in that awkward space between "important" and "fun." Mera fans will find enough here to justify the time, especially with Nereus's farewell and the promise of a brutal confrontation with Lolanna, but Aquaman himself feels like a supporting character in his own title. The “twist” of the Crimson Queen was well plotted, well written, and a great reveal … however the story is going places that are the opposite of why I picked up this title to begin with. The series opened with Arthur and his growing band of heroes on a very exciting forward moving quest … and that’s not happening here. I don’t want to spoil Aquaman #14, so I can’t say too much, but outside of some background noise, the heroes who helped Arthur on his quest are pretty much absent from this issue. I get that with Arthur away off fighting to be the Omega King in the “big” DC K.O. event the story has shifted to focus on Mera and I respect how Adams is folding the Omega elements into the plot making this a solid tie-in. All that being said this more

if you're going to do this much of a backstory dump why not just make it the actual issue itself instead of getting a montage boiled down version "how do you know all of this??" "she told me" wow that is some expert storytelling right there lol
