An old face returns to Gotham when former Mayor Emerson Mayfield steps out of retirement, looking to once again rise to power. But Batman isn't thrilled with the Mayor's homecoming after his run-ins with him during his early years as the caped crusader. Can Batman deduce what Mayfield's plan for Gotham is before it's too late?!

Mayfield seems maybe a bit too inspired by a certain other politician of the modern era, but this story feels both very relevant and highly exciting. Read Full Review

Overall, a pretty forgettable issue. Rick Burchett has the unenviable task of following up the amazing art by Jordan Gibson from the last issue. Burchett's art is fine here, if a bit rushed in some panels that's not altogether unexpected on a title like this (but it is a huge drop-off in quality from Gibson's work that makes it hard to believe issue #4 and #5 came from the same comic). This issue reads like a dream, it's action-packed and the witty quips are perfect as always. It's definitely setting up something big. I am definitely excited to see where this story goes next. Read Full Review

A solid issue with a glimpse into Batman's past, mined perfectly by Alan Burnett and Paul Dini. The Burchett art is great but something felt off about the quality of the printing, at least the issue I had. There were jagged edges on panel borders and lines of art which I don't think were intentional. I'd like to chalk it up to current supply chain issues plaguing everything, and that this print run was rushed. Hopefully the next issue will not have this problem.

Batman has taken on his share of crooked politicians, but this was his first. I have a feeling his decision to make a comeback is connected to the murder he had Muscle make last issue. This is one of the best issues yet in the "Adventures continue" series so far, and I look forward to seeing how Batman deals with this corrupt official.
