BLACK CANARY: ZERO YEAR?! Well, its definitely a BATMAN: ZERO YEAR tie-in issue as we look into a pivotal moment in Black Canarys history! Dont miss assassins, mystery men and an ancient evil in Gotham City!

If theres any non a-list character that deserved a Zero Year tie-in it would be Black Canary. Its great to see her getting more attention and the care that many characters like her deserve. Birds of Prey #25 is a truly enjoyable book on all levels, both in illustration and writing. Its a definite buy if youre a fan of Pretty Bird. Read Full Review

    Batman-News - Andrew Asberry Nov 21, 2013

Christy Marx captures the horrors of a blacked out Gotham better than many of the other tie-ins, but Zero Year still takes a backseat to the origin story of Black Canary. While I also enjoyed the flashbacks and the character development of Dinah Drake, the story did get bogged down by the unnecessary inclusion of ninjas, special ops teams in search of top-secret gadgetry, and other over-the-top elements in the last half of the book. A city-wide blackout, origin flashbacks, a threatening street gang, and an incoming hurricane was really more than enough to create a riveting one-issue plot. Read Full Review

    AIPT - Jordan Richards Nov 20, 2013

Birds of Prey #25 is an acceptable comic book overall, but not something to be rushing out to get if you need a Zero Year fix. There are better books you could be reading and if you truly wanted to check this out, it would probably be best to wait until a special collection comes out that has all the Zero Year tie-ins (it'll happen, just like Batman: Night of the Owls (The New 52) and Death of the Family). Comic Booked - Jeff Hill Nov 22, 2013

Like I said. Generic. There's no reason for this to be an extra dollar. There's no reason for it to tie into the event. And, quite honestly, there's not really much of a reason for the title to even exist. Now, if we could get a bold new direction going or a Team 7 story that didn't seem convoluted, paced weird, or just a way to keep the old Wildstorm characters relevant, that would be a nice start. Or maybe throw in the inevitable Green Arrow romance story. Or, you know, just let Gail Simone write the book again and pretend like the first two years of stories never happened. That would work, too. But until something drastic happens, I'm going to continue inching toward dropping this book. It's not bad. It's just not very good, either. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Jim Werner Nov 20, 2013

Birds of Prey #25 is the weakest Zero Year tie-in and a sorry excuse for an origin story.  Even Birds of Prey fans would be wise to give this one a wide berth. Read Full Review
