So far, Danger Street has been a series both defined by and held back by its sheer ambition. With a cast of over 20 heroes, villains, and antiheroes from across the multiverse involved in a conspiracy ranging from local crime to a battle between ancient worlds, it's always felt sprawling and a little overwhelming. Which is why this issue, before the final acta two-character spotlight taking place entirely on a single rooftop, is so brilliant in its simplicity. Read Full Review

Danger Street #9 is different from anything thats come before in this series. While it may seem odd to use so much dialogue in a book consisting of one large fight, King, Fornes, and Stewart use this opportunity to connect everything thematically in the overall grand scheme of the narrative. There's something beautiful about Danger Street #9 that's straight out of the Seventh Seal. If it wasn't obvious yet, Danger Street is an impressively made parable for modern times utilizing modern superhero sensibilities. This issue does try your patience, but feels rewarding all the same. I can give Tom king a lot of flak, I think a lot of his books rely on hitting you over the head with faux-gravitas, kind of like being a Neil Gaiman but without the depth or talent. while feeling like he overstayed his welcome on Mister Miracle, was dealing with his own issues in Strange Adventures, and Human Target wasn't as good as Milligan's retool of him but still a decent read. - I was really looking forward to Danger Street. I'm old enough to have many of the original issues (anyone want to sell their copy of Lady Cop?). The series has been Tom King, but at least fun. This issue, on the other hand, is Tom King at his worst. He's either pulling a fast one on the readers by knowing he's sounding obnoxious, or he's simply writing obn more

Pretentious beyond anything reasonable. King swings for the fences and generates a big whiff of hot air.
