After waiting quite a while for the Krakoan era of X-Men to run its course, I decided to give this a shot, and I'm glad I did. I liked the more character-driven route that went with this first issue as the scene is being set for this new (and simpler) status quo. I think the slower pace and tone setting was just what this book needed after a 5-year storytelling initiative. Stegman's art is very gomore

Despite this book moving really slowly, I'm enjoying this run. I'm hoping Ahmed's Wolverine doesn't suffer from the same pacing issues.

I think by issue #12 I'll be off of this title. The first six issues were phenomenal; since then, it's been a dip in quality. I love Jorge Corona's art in this, but I do think that DWJ's writing in this second half of his run is nowhere near the heights of his first six issues.

Ryder is aboard a riverboat where she must gamble her fate against the mysterious Madam Gates. If she plays her cards right, Death will be within her sights. If not, this will be her last trip down any river.
This book isn't clicking for me, unfortunately. What I once thought was a series devoted to going into the forgotten corners of the DC Multiverse now comes off as pretentious.
THE LOST CITY OF CANON The Outsiders' journey through--and outside of--the multiverse continues! Deep beneath reality, two cities follow diametrically opposed philosophies. Not very good. The tonal difference between this and the first issue of Absolute Power is night and day. This wouldn't be terrible if this weren't such a serious and gloomy event and this was a standalone story in the middle of some random DC title. But for what Williams is going for in this, it doesn't work. I'm glad this Task Force VII series is all a set of one-shot stories, so I'm hoping we'remore

Great art, but I got absolutely nothing from the writing end.
Mini-Series Finale. The end of the road. The incredible and form-defining miniseries comes to a close. As the Viking and Queen finally go to war, the Bear's true purpose emerges.
The cunning Tim Drake has always been the smartest of Batman's sons...and the most comfortable matching wits with the most sinister geniuses on Earth. A really fun book still! Mike Norton fills on art duties for this arc and he's doing a great job so far. Every issue feels like a Saturday morning cartoon with Josie Campbell on writing and I dig it!

This book is REALLY suffering from the delays. If you're debating on reading this series, pick it up in the trade and I guarantee it's better fully collected.
THE HUNTRESS, HUNTED! Ruby's search for her father continues, and she'll stop at nothing to find him, even if it means killing the Huntress and destroying the Justice Society of America!
The Birds of Prey's personal failings threaten to turn an advantage into a disadvantage as their search for Barbara continues to be more fight for their lives than search for Oracle. Oh, and there are dinosaurs.
Retrospectively, this is one of Zdarksy's more solid issues in his run. However, this was a filler issue with practically no implication or setup for future issues, barring the Absolute Power tie-in. Unfortunately, this was more of a miss than a hit for me. This felt like an issue I've read multiple times before.
A milestone issue featuring art by the legendary DENYS COWAN (The Question) and series regular JORGE JIMENEZ! When a two-bit crook uncovers Batman's true identity, he becomes the most dangerous man in Gotham City! Can Batman stop him before it's too late? Does he even want to? Plus, an Absolute Power backup story by Chip Zdarsky and Mike Hawthorne ...
Really solid start, but I can't get past the mischaracterization of Amanda Waller. Waid and Mora can do no wrong in my eyes.
THE TRINITY OF EVIL HAS WON. DC's epic summer event kicks off with a bang, as the combined might of FAILSAFE and the BRAINIAC QUEEN has at last given Amanda Waller the ability to steal the metahuman abilities of every hero and villain on planet Earth. The world comes crashing down around Peter and Miles. Someone has just ticked off the wrong Spider-Men. The gloves have come off, and people are going to get hurt.

Yea, I noticed that about Beast as well. At first I thought it was just shadowing, but the black around his eyes is weird. And he looks too skinny, particularly in the face. Makes him look like the Grinch. But otherwise, the art was perfect and I loved it.
Exactly. Beast kinda just threw me off a bit, but everyone else looked great. I'm also happy that this book doesn't quite follow the Marvel house art style and we can very clearly see Stegman's style.
