Hyde Street #2 delivers another intense issue that is steeped in a slow-building sense of dread amongst bloody panels and excellent character development. Horror fans, there is no longer an excuse not to get your hands on this tale, as Hyde Street is hitting all of the right beats satisfying the reader with every panel. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff Nov 29, 2024

Johns and company deliver a really impressive second issue. One more foundation gets delayed for a series that could easily run for quite a few issues. There is so much potential in the story of so many people who have been subjected to the darker end of humanity. Really interesting to get a very sophisticated and nuanced look at that in a series that dives very deeply into the nature of human misfortune. Read Full Review

HYDE STREET #2 takes the serial horror series up a notch when readers learn the twisted history behind Hyde Street's littlest devil. Geoff Johns improves on the first issue with more malicious mayhem and insight into the competition between Hyde Street's collectors. Meanwhile, the art team's output is jaw-dropping. The Super Powered Fancast - Deron Generally Nov 27, 2024

Johns continues to craft an entertaining and interesting story in this issue. Pip is an interesting character that has some brilliantly dark elements to his story that make me intrigued by him. I love all of the horror elements of this series and find myself intrigued by the mystery at the heart of Hyde Street and what it means for the characters. Read Full Review

    AIPT - Collier Jennings Nov 29, 2024

Hyde Street #2 is a strong sophomore issue that sheds more light on one of the more interesting characters in its ensemble. It also finds the balance between standalone story and expanding upon the mythology it's set in motion, which bodes well for future issues especially next month's, which looks to deliver a twisted Christmas tale. Lyles Movie Files - Jeffrey Lyles Nov 27, 2024

Johns is setting up Mr. X-Ray and Pip on a collision course that could benefit these two prominent residents of Hyde Street or start to unravel The Scorekeeper's carefully laid out plans. So far this has been a fun read, but this is the one Ghost Machine title that has the best chance to become too predictable too quickly. Read Full Review

    Plot
This chapter tells part of the origin of Pranky, who being a victim of abuse by his father, a war veteran tortured in the 1950s, thought that being part of the Boy Scouts would make his father proud and they would accept him, however the cruelty among his peers breaks him and his dark side emerges to make heavy/sadistic jokes. He begins to obtain his badges in his own way, it is his obsession to be accepted.

They still do not explain what deal Pranky made with Score Keeper, but Pranky feels comfortable earning his badges and in Hyde Street a policeman appears who is actually a serial killer and Pranky makes him relive his crimes and forces him to commit suicide before facing public ridicule.

    Pranky is scolded more

I love this concept, in a genre that has so many copycats, it definitely feels new and original. I'm really looking forward to issue #3.
