Rags Morales also helps sell this new vision of the DCU as one to be remembered. His work is frequently gorgeous and always stylishly noir. Unfortunately, the presence of two inkers prevents the issue from achieving a truly consistent and cohesive visual tone. There are flaws in First Wave, but the strengths greatly outweigh them. The slow build of "First Wave" is beginning to pay off despite much of the story still remaining a mystery. But, the central focus is almost apparent and the characters are all mired in interesting and intriguing stories. With half of the series over, it will be interesting to see how Azzarello pulls it all together for a satisfying payoff. Read Full Review
