Even for all of its strengths, Justice League of America #17 still suffers from the same pratfalls that many of DC's current titles are inclined to these days. After all, anytime a book is tied into a major crossover event there are too many dangling plot lines for a casual fan to fully enjoy it. That being said, if you are a diehard DC fanboy and have been painlessly collecting all things Countdown, then you've probably read much worse than this. Read Full Review
Justice League of America #17 is a solid issue, but it certainly isn't anything special. For me, I feel that this title has dropped in quality since Meltzer left. Of course, may people probably much prefer the more action based and simple story arc formats of this current JLA. Read Full Review
While the overall concepts of this issue are intriguing, the tie-in to Countdown is both a blessing and a curse. If you are just a casual reader of this title, you might be a bit lost. As a flagship title like Justice Society, JLA might fair better with the common man by staying fairly self-contained. But the JLA also plays a major role in the grand scheme of the DC Universe, so they are almost obliged to get involved with the major crossovers. I am interested to see how the battle with the Suicide Squad plays out and following this issue, I will say I am a little more intrigued by the concept in Salvation Run. Read Full Review

In its place this month, we get a Countdown tie-in. Not even a relatively eventful or noteworthy tie-in, but a retarded Salvation Run one. Joy. Black Lightning beats up some no name, Z-list villains. The Suicide Squad tries to round up some more losers. Bunch get away and go see the JLA to surrender in hopes they won't let them get sent away to the prison planet. That's it.
