IT'S LITTLE BATMAN VS. THE JOKER! What happens when a kid, who is also a secret superhero, sneaks off to save his dad, who is also a secret superhero? Mayhem, of course! In a nutshell, it is a children's book based on a children's film. While the film had subtle bits for the adults and kids alike, Month One is all silly for mostly children. While there is nothing wrong with that, I think the lack of depth and complexity makes it a harder sell for anyone over twelve or thirteen. At the same time, Alfred's subplot of trying to get rid of the babysitter is humorous, and Joker's portion really brings life to the book. Otherwise, indulging Damian's delusion makes the story feel like a hugely irresponsible game of pretend that none of the adults are taking seriously. As a result, the plot never feels like it is progressing meaningfully, rather than waiting for something to happen. Likely, because no one really believes Little Batman is necessary, especially if Batman could've stopped this at any time. Read Full Review
