"The Great Leap" part 1, a "Batman R.I.P." tie-in! Two-Face hits New York City, but when he takes a bite out of the Big Apple, he finds it rotten to the core. He'll make Nightwing and all of New York pay for their crimes unless Nightwing can save one of Harvey Dent's old flames from an assassin's bullet!

The rest of the issue proceeds with Nightwing attempting to save the DA in his typical swashbuckling manner, and while the issue definitely builds in excitement and suspense, it only reaches such astounding heights in quality thanks to that early Nightwing/Two-Face scene. From there and until the end of the issue, we enjoy the fireworks and wait patiently until their paths inevitably cross once again. Read Full Review

If I wasnt already a monthly Nightwing reader I wouldve initially been rather pissed that I bought it for the R.I.P. tie-in that wasnt there. I mean, not only does the book not tie directly to the big event, but when it does, its allusions completely screw up the timeframe of events and will probably do nothing but confuse readers of R.I.P. even more than they already are. However, if youre currently picking up Nightwing regardless of R.I.P., or just looking for a good story, Nightwing #147 wont disappoint. Im hoping that a bunch of people will give this series a shot solely for the advertised tie-in. Then, once getting over the frustration of being lead on, will be able to enjoy the issue none-the-less and be onboard for future installments based solely on the merits of the writing and art. This is another solid addition to Peter Tomasis Nightwing saga. Check it out. Read Full Review

Another good issue for Tomasi and Kramer. They are at the top of their game with this book. Carol is surprised that Harvey would help her. This is a mystery for a future issue. The cliffhanger leaves you waiting for the next issue. Read Full Review

The Weekly Crisis - Kirk Warren Aug 6, 2008

Great job with the Nightwing / TwoFace confrontation, especialy with Dick's past experience as Robin and the revelation that Batman recruited TwoFace to take over Gotham during 52/OYL. However, weak plot / story keeps this issue, much like previous Nightwing issues, from reaching the coveted Must Read verdict. Read Full Review

P.S. , the cover is symbolic. Nightwing undergoes a lot of suffering in this issue but he does not get acid thrown onto half of his face. Read Full Review
