Power Girl is a great, silly, surprisingly deeper themed than youd expect, and action packed work with some of the best artwork this side of Hadleys run on Madame Xanadu. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Read Full Review

There's still a lot of character development needed here, and they need to spend some more time on the supporting characters, but hey, it's only issue number three! Amanda Conner continues to steal the show with this series with her gorgeous designs, strong layouts, and manic energy. If for no other reason, its worth $3 just to see her stuff. The writing is fun with good plotting and a lot of respect for the titular character, but it can't stand as an ongoing without more attention paid to and interaction with the supporting cast. Palmiotti and Gray threw a great deal at us in this first story arc, but in doing so hit the ground running. An old DC villain was repurposed and given a new reason for being evil, Karen sets up shop in New York and the readers learn of Karen's deeper connections throughout the DCU. The writing duo are helping replenish the DC pool of characters and concepts in this title, much in the same way Keith Giffen has promised to do so with "Magog" and "Doom Patrol." Power Girl isn't a character I would follow without reservation, but the writing duo and Amanda Conner are a creative combo I would not hesitate to follow. Read Full Review

The opening arc to Power Girl has me lamenting the days when a new book would launch with a ten or twelve issue plan of where to go. The conclusion to the Ultra Humanite arc is decent enough as it shows off her powers well, that she's more than just a beauty and we get a clear sense of the way she wants to rebuild and restart her life but will be confounded by old foes and problems. If you were reading the character for the first time, this arc definitely helped explain some of her past and why she's a bit light natured about it, instead focusing on the future and what can be accomplished. Her personality shines through very well here and Amanda Conner really nails her facial expressions in a number of scenes that shows her frustration and other emotions. While overall a standard story, it works well. But the setup pages don't exactly a lot of confidence for the next storyline. Here's hoping for more of her company material and more of her growing relationship with Terra. Read Full Review
