Showdown at Bizarro World! How can the Girl of Steel defeat a threat that has already taken down an entire planet of Bizarros? And what about BizarroGirl can Supergirl trust her twisted mirror self to help out? Well, if Bizarros are opposites, and Supergirl is noble, brave and heroic uh good luck defeating the monstrous intergalactic foe by yourself, Kara!
Any Reeder's cover is certainly fetching. We know she is looking at the Godship here, fear evident on her face. But the characterization was the key here. This issue is simply brilliant. Sterling Gates does a wonderful job of stepping up his Supergirl to an allnew level that really revitalizes her (just in time for Nick Spencer to take over in a few months). Between the amazing art, fantastic story, and great character writing, this issue really showcases just what Supergirl is capable of as a character and how complex she can be. It's not often that a single issue is a game changer for a character without resorting to gimmicks, but this issue is just that, which is precisely why it tipped the book over the edge to make it my pick for Read Full Review
It's too bad that all we have left are two issues and an annual for Gates, but hopefully we'll see some more comics from him before too long. Still, Gates is going out with a bang, and you can't ask for much more than that, really. (Oh, and Bizarro Arsenal? Gates and Chang, you made me laugh for several minutes. Well done.)
