Now, about this idea of Jung's. About the “collective unconscious” being visualized as an infinite, bottomless cavern where human feeling just eventually runs out…and about how this idea tore apart a friendship. It's a good story, and I'm sure somebody's already blogged about it… Read Full Review

Sarcasm aside, this wasn't a terrible comic book. To be honest, I was expecting way worse. Yeah sure, this NOWHERE/Harvest storyline has gone on way too long for my tastes(which seems to be a running theme regarding Scott Lobdell written comics), but this comic was just good, dumb fun. You really didn't need to think much while reading it, it was straightforward(or at least as straightforward as a Teen Titans comic has been post-reboot), and most importantly, Red Robin wasn't a half bird/half boy creature in this issue! Hey, I have to look for the good wherever I can find it! Read Full Review

Whilst the majority of the story is a mass fight scene between the Titans, Legion, Superboy and the other teenage metahumans, there are enough answers and new questions posed that will keep you engaged for most of it. The cliffhanger isn't really much to go on, but it promises more fighting to come, which is what superhero books are famous for. The Culling started off on a wrong foot with some dodgy dialogue, but by the time the issue comes to a close, it has its feet firmly on the right path to being an enjoyable crossover. The backmatter to this first Annual of the relaunch is, sadly, just as interesting, if not moreso, than the thirty-two pages of the main story with a great deal of information and character introduction. Perhaps after reading the backmatter the story might be more engaging the second time through. There is no denying that DeFalco and Lobdell are trying to craft a memorable and engaging crossover with "The Culling." The energy is here. The characters are here. The enthusiasm isn't. I'm hoping that the lack of enthusiasm is simply from the overload of information and that the next chapters of this crossover are more entertaining. Read Full Review

All in all an okay read. I'm not too fond of it, even though I'm a big fan of Tim Drake! Read Full Review
