The action and dialogue are in perfect keeping with the serial's that originally spawned these heroes, with slightly hammy character interaction and an over tendency to explain what they are doing, this is pure pulp action and adventure for a modern audience. Read Full Review

There are going to be a lot more books coming out, with modern twists on old stories, including The Phantom and Will Eisner’s The Spirit. This series from Dynamite Entertainment is dark, gritty and told with a vocabulary not seen often in action comics. It's a great pick for the more linguistically incline readers. it has all thee makings of an action-mystery comic with lots of room to grow. Justice Inc. The Avenger #1 is a fun and thrilling ride back to the past where Richard Benson and his Justice Inc. take on odd, almost paranormal cases. Freire captured the time period of the piece and does a good job with facial emotions. Waid's writing is really the stand out in the issue. It is top notch.
