After a fight in a tavern results in Red Sonja being arrested and becoming a prisoner, she is sold to a promoter who stages gladiatorial games. There, in the blood-soaked sand of the arena, she finds herself pitted against an old friend-a huge snow bear that she once saved from hunters. But will they unite to wreak havoc on their enemies, or will they fight one another to the death?

Comic Bastards - James Anders II Feb 12, 2014

It really feels good to see Nancy A. Collins back in the saddle writing for a solid comic title like Red Sonja. Reading her work again has helped me to be ushered back to my past of reading her Swamp Thing run. The same emotions held true then as they do now with this one shot. And I am proud to report that Collins has not lost any of her great writing talent. I would love to see her do some more with the title in the future. Read Full Review

    ComicBuzz - Scott Cosby Jun 9, 2014

The art by Casas is absolutely amazing. The opening pages are stunning, along with the detail and character work on Red Sonja, the Vikings, and the little cub as well as the landscape. The second part of the story in the city and arena are just as detailed and crisp. Its just that the winter wonderland makes for some great visuals. His art is further elevated by the coloring from Roberts as well. Red Sonja: Berserker is a quick and enjoyable one-shot. The story and art makes this one worth checking out if you see it at the comic shops. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke Feb 12, 2014

This is a exceptionally good looking comic with a nice story and good Red Sonja character tinges. You'll see the end coming, but as a whole it's an enjoyable read. Now at $4.99 I'm not sure it's worth the coin, but it's definitely worth a peek to see if it'd tickle your fancy. Read Full Review

Geeked Out Nation - Mark Pritchard Feb 13, 2014

Red Sonja Berserker gives you an old tale, told very well. There's emotional resonance, humour and pathos, the art is great and the book is perfect for both adults and children. Again, this is not an original tale, but writer Nancy A. Collins knows how to make you root for her characters, and in this book she does that extremely well. Read Full Review

Unleash The Fanboy - Harrison Rawdin Feb 12, 2014

Red Sonja: Berserker (One-Shot) is not something that pushes the aged property, but it still brings about an entertaining jaunt with some necessary heart. Recommended. Read Full Review

Comic Book Therapy - Cody Feb 12, 2014

Red Sonja Berserker is a quick and enjoyable one-shot. The story is paint by numbers in some respects, but the art really raises the rating and makes this one worth checking out if you see it at the comic shops. Read Full Review
