The Super Powered Fancast - Deron Generally
Feb 04, 2026Ward crafts a dark, thrilling adventure in this issue. I really like the pacing of the story as well as the resolution of Jennifer and Sara’s stories. I really like the tone and the immediacy of the action in this issue and how it beautifully serves as a prequel to the events of the movie with its epilogue connection. Read Full Review

Jan 01, 1970A major plus for this issue is the epilogue that ends the book. This teases a new story/series to follow and really hypes up the reader for it. To come off a successful run and be able to switch gears and excite readers for what's to come is a real feather in the cap to Ward. I for one will be waiting for this next installment. Feb 03, 2026Event Horizon: Dark Descent #5 largely sticks the landing, delivering a grim, blood-soaked finale that understands what made the original film linger in viewers' minds: dread, guilt, and the terrifying idea that hell isn't just a place, but it's something you carry with you. Christian Ward and Tristan Jones lean into spectacle without losing sight of character, even if the story introduces a few last-minute cosmic curveballs that feel more like setup than payoff. Still, as a prequel and a bridge to what's next, Dark Descent proves this franchise has plenty of nightmares left to explore. Read Full Review

And even though Event Horizon: Dark Descent #5 has a few visual stumbles, the issue overall is a strong finish to a good horror series. Read Full Review
