When it comes to civilisations on the brink of extinction due to a dying star, the unifying foundation tends to be one of ancient civilisations that have risen and fallen. If the sun's dying it's probably really, really old and if the unfortunate inhabitants of its satellites are sophisticated enough to escape, that's probably because they've been around a long time too " but there is no sense of that history here.
