We're off the grill and into the fryer with this one, gang. Marty and Alison go deep undercover in the headquarters of the Church of the Immortal Heartbeat, but can their squishy mortal minds stand up to the devilish dilemmas that await them inside? Also, Bernice and Veronika Vargas-Vo go head-to-head, and it's going to be messier than the back booths after a youth soccer team lunch. You know the kids we're talking about. It's secrets, lies, and a side of fries in "Soft Skills and C-Minus Nachos."
The next issue has been announced as the penultimate chapter in the series. Theres no amount of exposition that will make any of whats gone on so far feel normal. Theres a deep comfort in that. Wilson and Kangas have rolled through the midpoint of a series so pleasantly twisted that theres no hope of it being pounded into blandness by the last couple of issues...because even if it were to do so, at this point, THAT would be weird enough to serve as some sort of satisfying point on which to end the series. This issue was probably my favorite. It's just an odd book. That's not a knock on it, it's just very unique, yet funny with its premise and characters.
