Jordan Boyd's color work is top notch here as well. Different colored backgrounds accentuate every page, playing to the emotion of the characters on said page very well. As an aside, it'd be interesting to hear Boyd's philosophy on color when it comes to DEADLY CLASS. His work has been a big part of the quality of this series, and hearing him speak on that would be enlightening for sure. Read Full Review
Deadly Class #17 is one of the best and bloodiest openings of the series so far. It opens with the blast, and it recaptures the intensity and suspense of the earlier classics mentioned above. Also, it analogizes the extreme form of the final examination period, which only Remender and Craig can visual in this medium. I am definitely going to sink my teeth here! This issue, despite the end of term setting, is actually part one of the next arc. With alliances being made and deals brokered, it's safe to say that we will eventually see the ramifications, that is , if any of the characters live long enough. The book kind of surprised me. After reading the “previously on….” and then reading the book I found myself intrigued enough to wonder about the back story. The fact that an allaction issue manages to get that type of response is a credit to all involved. Read Full Review
The enjoyment of this issue and the present situation the students have fallen into might somewhat hinge on where readers fall on this aspect of the narrative. While Remender, Craig and Boyd continue to do excellent work, it may be somewhat hindered by a few decisions. Still, this story arc looks to bring an entirely new dynamic to Deadly Class. As the divisions set it, a brand new layer emerges to this story. Read Full Review
