Chapter 9 is all about our samurai as we flashback to her most dangerous day on Earth. Sins will be revealed, and the past will come back to haunt her. Ogata Asami cuts the life out of her opposition...unfortunately for her, these are warriors that will remember her face when they meet again in the war that's exploding in Purgatory. There will be blood. Not for the feint of heart. BLOOD!
This series continues to be a welcome treat with every issue. This was a nice diversion from the ongoing arc and hopefully future issues will further expand on the characters lives before ending up on the island. Read Full Review

This was a nice flashback issue to show Asami's origin story. Good writing and art, the story was appropriately grim for the period. It also explained her initial distrust of men. Good stuff.
