Gertrude has been stuck in Fairyland for decades when she finally hears of a secret passage that may be her way back home. But reaching it is easier said than done as she crosses the border into IMAGE where she'll have to chop her way through you favorite characters from Saga, The Walking Dead, Savage Dragon, Spawn, Descender, Black Science, Southern Bastards, and any other character I can add to make sure the original art for this issue sends my children to college! Many Free Comic Book Day specials in recent years have been reprints, prequels, flashback titles, or just 50% advertisements. I Hate Image is something different. This one issue could have easily stretched into an ongoing event (and I hope someday it does)! I would shell out the $5.99 it costs for a similar event one-shot from the big 2, but thanks to the great people at Image, this one is completely free! All you have to do is visit your local comic book shop- wow, what a terrible sacrifice (not). Read Full Review

Lets be honest as awesome as Free Comic Book Day is most of the books are just ads for whatever event the publisher is putting out next! They are a small sample of story and then 30 ads for other books. I Hate Image is nothing of the sort. This is a fully fleshed out free one shot and a perfect example of what FCBD should be! We get a self contained story of our beloved Gert trying to find the fabled Image Land to have a little "chat" with the partners to get any info she can on how to escape Fairyland! This issue is packed with great Image Comic characters from the entire library from the early days to issues released last week! The art is phenomenal and the story is flat out perfect! I really hope this is what we start to get from FCBD is more

Gert hacks and slashes her way through the myriad of Image's original characters, which is a perfect vessel for new potential readers. If you missed out on the FCBD issue, there is a $5.99 re-release with extra pages featuring additional Image creators complaining to Scottie Young that they weren't in the book enough, plus some behind the scenes pages.
