FISHFLIES #6 takes a break from Fran's adventure for an issue-long flashback that explains the history of the Fishfly monster and the cycle of violence that activates a curse on Belle River. Lemire's script goes a long way toward bringing clarity to the narrative, and the guest artist breathes fresh life into the visuals. Fishflies #6 is the weakest issue in the series to date, largely because of how it interrupts the series pacing. The flashback exposition feels like an afterthought, as though it was forgotten and had to be inserted in as easy a way as possible before the final issue. Ultimately the momentum that the issue, indeed the whole series, loses during the flashback isnt recovered by the issues end. Read Full Review
Part of me wants to believe it's a bit too late in the game for Jeff Lemire to bring in an explanation this elaborate, but he manages to tie it back to the original crime on a thematic level. Read Full Review
