This one was a ton of fun! I've been in and out on G.I. Joe comics, mostly in on the Energon Universe, but this issue showed me what I've been missing! The action was bad-ass and the art made me feel like I was watching a movie. With so may story threads to pull on, I still felt engaged and extremely fascinated by all of it. G.I. JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO #309 is a fast-paced action-fest from start to finish. Larry Hama keeps a surprising number of teams moving in different directions to keep the variety and dramatic complexity high, and the art team's output looks great. Theres a focus largely on waring factions of villains and the unsavory types here and there. There IS some appeal in the heroes, but they dont get enough of the center of the panel to  feel as interesting as the should be. They ARE the title characters in the series. Every now and then the villains are going to need to show what kind of badasses they are just to add to the menace, but it always feels weird ending an issue of a heroic action series without much in the way of heroism.  Read Full Review
