The Weekly Crisis - Ryan Schrodt Apr 22, 2010

I was very pleasantly surprised by this issue. Ron Marz has a great concept here with very engaging characters that I was immediately interested in. Nelson Blake's art is a perfect fit for the series and is a welcome breath of fresh air form the standard Top Cow style. I'm super glad that the Top Cow folks sent me this issue and I hope they continue to do so with this series! Read Full Review

    Comic Vine - inferiorego Apr 22, 2010

This book surprised me more than anything else I've read in a long time. I'm usually not one for the Christian religion-lore book, but this book was completely engrossing, which surprised me for a first issue of a series. It doesn't happen often that a random book I reviewed makes my weekly pull list, even if I really enjoyed it, but Magdalena is now a part of my weekly pull list, and I'm excited to see what happens next. If you like comics, and you are interested in starting a new series, I'd highly recommend this book. Read Full Review

I will say Blake was very consistent throughout the issue. My only major complaint with the overall visuals is that the colors don’t seem to fit the tone of a Magdalena book. Read Full Review

Comic Book Bin - Andy Frisk Apr 22, 2010

Im not giving up on this series yet. Weve only been privy to one issue. It is still one of the most potential laden creations and concepts to get its own ongoing series. Solid art and concepts must be backed up by solid storytelling though. Hopefully, well see this in The Magdalena sooner than later. Read Full Review
