Every cell of "Multiple Warheads" is extremely lively and every being has peculiar characteristics; radiation-sniffing creatures hiss out racial slurs, cigarettes sing obnoxious tunes and motorcycles posses blood-hound-like senses. Those of you who are already fans of Brandon Graham's previous work shouldn't need much encouragement to give Multiple Warheads (Alphabet to Infinity) #1 a try; the rich imagination we've come to expect from Graham is hard at work and his artwork has never looked better. If you haven't already encountered his comics then this issue is the perfect place to start. Multiple Warheads is a charming comic, one which features high adventure and a scattering of madcap concepts yet remains (relatively) grounded by a knowing sense of humor. The story is trippy and bizarre, and jam packed full of fascinating concepts and ideas. It's a real wild ride that is sure to make your head spin. Graham's artwork has a wonderfully cartoony look to it that brings to mind the work of Jamie Hewlett, and he packs every page with an amazing amount of detail and little easter eggs. "Multiple Warheads: Alphabet to Infinity" #1 is the start of a mini-series, but as Graham notes on the inside front cover, the idea is really to have it be the start of an ongoing series where Graham stockpiles enough art to have regular monthly releases, with pauses to let him then catch back up. With the first issue clocking in at 48-pages, that approach feels more than reasonable to me. If you haven't read "King City" or "Prophet" yet, you absolutely should. But until then, check out "Multiple Warheads: Alphabet to Infinity" #1. This is pure fun from start to finish. Read Full Review

I love the overall look of the world and how happy the main characters are and how cool the anti-hero, I suppose, of the story is. Its genuinely refreshing to just have a story where the personalities of the characters can elevate everything in the world to a point that all the other absurd things feel more cohesive then obtrusive. While it doesnt quite have the scope of something likeSaga, the two have a similar feel and tone, which leads me to think that fans of that book may enjoy this one. I know that this might not be for everyone and has its technical problems, but this is the type of book that gets me excited to read comics. If you are sick of comics all being the same then this is the comic for you. I cannot promise you will like it, it's not for everyone, but you will definitely remember it and find it different from anything else you are currently reading. Overall, the book pairs nicely the, if not post-apocalyptic than pretty damn close, world with the beauty and joy that Graham finds in these creatures and landscapes. While at times I felt lost, there was nothing a little deeper reading couldn't fix, and my reading experience was all the better for it. While I wish I had read the initial Oni chapter, I still feel I got a lot out of this comic, and I'm looking forward to the next installment " hopefully not five years away. Read Full Review
