Deep underneath the city of Buckaroo the secrets of the serial killers have been buried for ages... and our heroes are about to be buried with it...
Joshua Williamson has truly outdone himself with this series, and this issue is no exception. It raises the stakes, enters new territory and makes the reader truly anticipate the final instalment. It's certainly a far cry away from his other work on The Flash, but it definitely shows his talent at diversifying his writing. It's all coming to a head inNailbiter #29. And although we don't want the series to end – the final issue should be truly spectacular if this penultimate instalment is anything to go by. If you've loved this series, you'll know what we mean. Only one issue left and Nailbiter #29 set the stage for what is practically do or die. With March delivering the conclusion, its anything goes for our heroes. We don't know who's going to live, who's going to die, or if any of them can walk out of this the same person they were before, but that is the appeal of how horror stories push you to brace for the worst. The vast majority of your questions about Nailbiter are answered in this issue. It's a payoff that's been building since the series debuted in 2014. I would have preferred if it wasn't all at once, perhaps saving some of the pacing out some of the revelations to build up to the finale. The mysteries of Buckaroo are mostly revealed. I thought there would be more to the bees than that. I"m actually glad that the series didn't run longer, it's not that I don't like it or that I have a particular problem with the answers that I'm getting, but the longer this series was drawn out, the more I was expecting the reveal to be mind blowing, which it isn't really. It's good, but not mind blowing. I wonder if any revelation could have met with the expectations that were built up.
This book has been the source of a lot of creepiness over its run, and now that it is ending, it feels like it's ending too fast. The story as a whole took its time for the sake of creepy thrills, but this issue is filling in a lot of the mystery points with heavy exposition. It's good, but I think the book deserved a few more issues to get the mood and pacing of the end of the grand story right.
