Mar 03, 2026For me, this is not just another strong installment in an already impressive run. It is the moment the series crystallizes into something undeniable. A story about power, yes, but even more so about love, and the terrible, necessary things we do in its name. Read Full Review

Feb 26, 2026Power Fantasy #16 is a tragic ending to the first part of an incredible story. Everything ends in a sweeping crescendo of desperation, defiance, and fear that leaves the door open for what will happen next. Hopefully the break doesn't last too long. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
Feb 25, 2026There's a considerable amount amount of integrity in deciding to take a couple of months off after this issue. Just so there's no solicitation or anything like that. The ending can have its impact. That can have its impact without any suggestion of what might be happening afterwards. It's very powerful stuff. It's very cool that they had decided to do this. However, they want to make sure that they have enough time. So it's entirely possible that they won't start this series up again until next year. Which, again: it was a great degree of admirable integrity in that. Rather than just rolling straight through with it. They're letting this issue have its moment. Read Full Review

Feb 25, 2026The endgame from Eliza’s elimination spirals into chaos as another tries fixing the wound. Gillen’s writing is incredible in unlocking the heartfelt goodbyes. Wijngaard raises the bar even higher with every page. From its’ concept to presentation, this series checks all the boxes of what you want from your comics. It’s farewell for now but not forever pertaining to what’s been built here. Read Full Review

Here we are, at the end of the first arc, with the series expected to return in late 2026. It could end here, but it would be a bleak ending that is nonetheless consistent with the realpolitik nature of the series, which is depressingly realistic. Instead we are left dangling at the end of a single lifeline, hope for more positive outcomes in the next arc. However, I'm certain Act 2 will be just as complex and compromised as the first arc. Kieron excels when he plays with the social implications that history has taught us. If that sort of thing interests you, I highly recommend picking up a collection of the first 16 issues when you have the opportunity.
