Everyone is just fucked up in WicDiv #28 as Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie, and Matthew Wilson show the unraveling of relationships as conversation turns to violent threats and actual violence in shades of red and black. These stylish characters have been stripped down to their ugly essences with Sakhmet's bloodstained mouth representing most of the Pantheon, who have been utterly consumed by fame and power, that they are inspiring absolutely no one and could end up leading to the end of the world. Like a rock to a hornet's nest, this recent arc has been all about reaction and escalation. Said themes have been no stranger to Kieron Gillen's tale, but with an oppressive foe on the horizon and the Pantheon's lifetime hourglass trickling ever down, the writer sees fit to give that nest another kick. It's always a treat to see Jamie McKelvie and Matt Wilson depict a godly party and it pops in every panel, even when the issue gets more talky. And that's before Sakhmet's sequence demonstrates what this team can do with black pages. Read Full Review
Things are falling apart in decadent degeneration, here in the conclusion to the "Imperial Phase" arc. This issue is a thriller, as the gods have never been more divided, or closer to tearing each other apart. They are captured perfectly here in all their vain and bloody glory by Gillen + McKelvie. Outstanding.
