The Witchblade's power dates back to the beginning of time. But there have been other powers through the centuries, and some of them have merely slumbered, awaiting an awakening. Now an ancient goddess arises in New York City, and only Witchblade bearer Sara Pezzini stands against her. As the pieces move into place for Artifacts, is Sara ready to face a foe that was old when the world was young?

Great Jumping on Point If you like a good cop/detective story, you'll love this issue. This week is a very small week for books, especially good, quality series, so your best bet, if you want to read something that is awesome, is to pick up Witchblade. Sadly, I can't believe I've been putting off Top Cow books for so long. Everything I've read by them in this past year (Darkness, Artifacts, and Magdalena) has been some of my favorite stuff of the year. I highly recommend this issue. Read Full Review

An extremely strong issue, one that gets back to the heart of what Witchblade does best: putting our heroine up against unholy baddies, and letting her use a combination of brain and 'Blade to fight her way out. There's nothing revolutionary in that, but certainly nothing to criticize"especially not when handled so well. Read Full Review

This is a great issue to start reading a book that has been running a pretty long time, to maybe not enough acclaim as its deserved. I cant speak for previous incarnations, but this current creative group sure seems to know whats its doing. If you've never tried this title, like myself, you may be surprised. Read Full Review

Lots of fun to be had here then, and if you're a fan of the aforementioned X Files or Dr Who perhaps then you'll lap this up. Even if you're not, this is still a very good issue indeed. Read Full Review

Witchblade #140 certainly succeeded in setting up what was a great detective tale, with a pretty creepy super natural twist thrown in. Marz works some character magic like always. Witchblade #140 is a fairly simple read and there isn't much you'd need to know to jump into it so I'd call it fairly new reader friendly. If you're interested I say give it a buy at your local comic shop this Wednesday. Read Full Review
