  (Cover Date: September, 1987) Summary: In Pittsburgh, Spidey web-slings his way to his hotel. Smythe has his crated Spider-Slayer loaded on board a 747 bound for Pittsburgh. Peter goes to Gayle's home & finds MJ with her estranged father. They leave after an argument, & MJ tells Peter about the stolen manuscript scheme that her father & sister are involved in. MJ decides that she is going to help her father. In prison, MJ walks away after talking to Gayle. Peter convinces Gayle to help MJ. MJ & Peter retrieve the manuscript at its hidden location at Duquesne University. The Spider-Slayer finds them there, & Peter leads it away as Spidey. The Spider-Slayer catches Spidey by a bridge & holds him underwater. MJ, in pursuit, slams a car into its leg, which frees Spidey. The Spider-Slayer pursues Spidey up Mt. Washington with MJ following in the trolley. MJ hits the Spider-Slayer with a bat while it is pummeling Spidey. The Spider-Slayer grabs MJ & is about to deliver a lethal blow when an enraged Spidey attacks it from behind. Spidey rips open the Spider-Slayer & pulls Smythe out, warning him to never harm anyone else again. Later, Peter & MJ go to Gayle's house to deliver the stolen manuscript to her father. The police come out of another room & arrest him. MJ says that she didn't want to put Peter in the position of supporting her when she was doing the wrong thing. Peter & MJ say goodbye to Gayle, who is out on bail, & to her sons. In the Pittsburgh airport, MJ tells Peter that she will marry him. more
