“Half-Man, Half-Reptile…the Lizard will take over all of Earth unless Spider-Man alone can stop him!” With these words, Dr. Curt Connors, the man who would be The Lizard, ushered a new kind of villainy into Spider-Man’s life. Now a widower with a son in foster care, and working at the bottom of the pharmaceutical industry, Connors is a broken, shell of a man…how long will it be before a Lizard breaks that shell?! How will it affect Peter Parker’s date with Carlie Cooper?! How is THE BLACK CAT involved? Zeb Wells and Chris Bachalo reunite to bring you the next great Spider-Epic as The Lizard returns! Rated A

This was a really good Spidey issue. We get to see Peter happy right about the time that Lizard is going to screw thing up for him. Read Full Review

There are a few missteps along the way, to be sure. For starters Aunt May's new attitude continues to come across as more awkward than dramatic, regardless of the explanation for it. On a similar note, I continue to have a tough time caring whenever the Kravens and Madame Web appear on the page, even if they are the guiding forces for this entire Gauntlet storyline. Nevertheless, the issue sets up the long-awaited return of the Lizard in an entertaining manner while providing some nice development in Peter's ongoing romantic soap opera, and for that it's well worth the price of admission. Amazing Spider-Man #630 was another solid entry in the Gauntlet arc. Wells and Bachelo delivered a fun beginning to this new arc involving the Lizard. With the last page for this issue I cant wait to get a confrontation between Spider-Man and the Lizard. I recommend Spider-Man fans pick this issue up as you are in store for everything you expect from a Spider-Man comic as it looks like we are promised another fun arc involving one of Spider-Mans Rogues. Was Amazing Spider-Man #630 fun? Absolutely. If youre a fan of either Spider-Man or Chris Bachalo there are far worse ways to spend your $2.99 this week. Just dont pick up this issue expecting anything you havent seen several times before, even if it does look and sound a little better than you might remember. Read Full Review

To this point, the end result is familiar, but the details along the way have changed a bit. After all, how many times has the Lizard ruined Curt Connors' life? I hope from here we find a new path, with more new details for this story to help avoid predictability. Read Full Review
