It's been quite some time since Spider-Man had his own crossover like this, and the shift in gears is giving the book a palpable sense of excitement " and to think, this is just the prelude! Read Full Review

I don’t think Dan Slott is so into entropy that he’ll completely destroy Spider-Man’s life, but I like how he’s taken elements of the past and shown how they effect Spidey’s present. I’m also enjoying the mystery here. An entire island full of spider-powered people is a power keg waiting to explode, but how and why the explosion happens isn’t easy to predict. Stefano Caselli’s art is some of the strongest he’s pulled off in a while. I’m still not a fan of his human faces, they tend to look too harsh and pointy, but his movement is wonderful. He really captures the action and joy of Spider-Man swinging through New York being a hero. It’s not Humberto Ramos, but it’s still an awesome job. Spider-Man 666 is the beginning of something big and in Dan Slott’s hands that can only mean good things. Read Full Review

While on the surface the idea of Spider-Island feels gimmicky, issue #666 has proven that there's one central element that has taken precedence over any other: character. Because of that, I'm ready for the ride. Read Full Review

    Comic Vine - Tony 'G-Man' Guerrero Jul 27, 2011

Spider-Island is almost here. The official prelude issue continues the tiny snippets we've been seeing in the back up stories and Spider-Man's life is about to be turned upside down. His life has been going very smoothly lately and we all know that can't last forever. Spider-Man has been evolving as a character since Slott began BIG TIME and it's great seeing the changes the character makes to further himself along. He's made more changes in the past year than he has in the last decade. He is going to need those changes if he hopes to survive what is coming up in Spider-Island. It was also great to see that a big deal wasn't made out of the fact that this is the 666th issue. I really want to get excited over the possibility at the end but I'm afraid of getting my hopes up if it's just a big tease. Read Full Review

Yeah, it's a “prelude,” but a good one, and I ‘m thankful that Marvel didn't get gimmicky with the whole “666″ thing by bringing back Mephisto or whatever (I know there's a big multi-cover promotion going on in conjunction with this issue, but I've only seen the one posted here). I think it might be time to settle myself back in to regular reading of Amazing Spider-Man. Read Full Review
