Taking a full issue for the antagonist's backstory is right in line with this volume's pace. There's enough material to make it a compelling read.
The storytelling--words and art--never quite break through to exceptional. However, they are consistent, clear, and enthralling. You have to step back from the story and take a moment to appreciate the skill and subtlety with which it's being told.
