Issue #617 actually features three story segments, even if the transition form the first to the second is a bit too subtle. In the middle portion, Black Widow and Sharon Carter investigate the conspiracy against Bucky, while in the third Steve Rogers continues to mull over his life-changing decision. These latter two tales occur simultaneously, and events in one cast the events of the other in a new light. Both are engaging in their own right, though Steve's predicament seems a little less important (and again, rendered moot by outside announcements). All the same, this issue doesn't feature that legacy being filled. The Captain America costume lies empty in this issue and no shield is slung. Brubaker does an applaudable job handling the myriad stories, but I'd like to see more Captain America in my "Captain America" comic. I have no doubt Brubaker will get there, and I am certainly looking forward to that. In the meantime, "Captain America" promises to deliver three stories that have dynamic effect on the legend. The art is mediocre and the Bucky story is a bit boring, but the Steve and Natasha stories I found enjoyable. Kind of an unnecessary story arc so far though
