Checchetto is a good replacement for De La Torre.Hollingsworths colours help cement the whole story and make sure it all fits in. This is turning to be a real classic Daredevil story in the making, visually and storywise. Read Full Review
The issue involves some exciting twists, as it becomes clear that Murdock is way in over his head thinking he can control the Hand. Between the introduction of Bakuto, multiple conspiracy plots, Murdock's dark new modus operandi, and the construction of the Shadowland, Diggle is offering plenty of reasons for me to believe Daredevil will remain one of my favorite books on the stands. Checchetto does an excellent job of portraying Matt Murdock as a thoroughly intense figure. The way he stands as he faces a group of killers makes him seem like the mythic figure he needs to be in order to lead the Hand. The Japanese cultural elements in the backgrounds seem genuine and convincing as well. I also appreciated how Murdock and the arrogant Bakuto are visually contrasted against the other Hand leaders. Their youth and vigor set them apart from the older Hand lieutenants, not to mention their attire (modern garb contrasts with ancient robes and masks). Read Full Review
To be honest, I know Murdocks plan to reform the Hand isnt going to work. The question is how. If the Hands leaders are manipulating Murdock in the service of a supernatural being or if theyve rejoined Baron Strucker and Hydra, then Matt will see his life fall apart all over again. I kind of liked this comic... It wasn't great or anything, but I enjoyed the fact that all of the Daimyos are far from heroic(as it should be!), and that they all have copious amounts of blood on their hands. So DD is forced to defend Bakuto, who is a scumbag from an assassination attempt from the other three Daimyos, who are also scumbags! Oh what a tangled web DD is weaving... Next issue should have lots of ninja action, while DD tries to unravel who wants Bakuto dead, as well as figuring out what the other three Daimyos are after. Read Full Review
This is a stranger, less realistic direction than we have seen in "Daredevil" for years, but it's in keeping with his pulpy roots and the crime-meets-kung-fu direction Frank Miller made famous in the 1980s. I know I'm enjoying it. Read Full Review
