Foolkiller #4 is a disappointing turn for what is otherwise a standout series. The inclusion of Deadpool hinders the story rather than strengthening it, and not much changes on the way to the book's ultimate conclusion. One can hope Bemis will recapture some of that early magic when the focus returns to where it should be in Foolkiller #5. Read Full Review
I'm not a fan of Pool and it's not like his guest appearance made the comic any better (if not worse), but it was still okay. I don't think the part where Melanie leaves Greg was necessary. It would be better if she was a better written character and actually a good partner for him. But we got what we got... The way she was written it's not a big loss.
Deadpool spirit-guides Foolkiller through a meta-fictional, self-referential wank of middling quality. Meta-fictional wankery is author Max Bemis's wheelhouse, so there's a healthy load of humorous "comics about comics" material here. This feels like the place this title should have started, and it makes the previous three issues look that much worse in comparison.
