This was an excellent first issue in this foundational Marvel event. The writing stands the test of time extremely well and even appeals to readers like myself who tend to prefer modern comics. The art was simply fantastic. Impossible not to appreciate the level of detail on some of these pages. The story was tense and high-stakes, and with Thanos' snap coming in the opening issue, the tone has been set for the rest of the book in a big way. As someone who is reading this after having seen Avengers: Infinity War, it's really cool to see how the film tried to honour aspects of this comic, and it's equally cool to see how they chose to deviate from it because it means I get to read this without really knowing what's going to happen next.
