Inglorious X-Force #4 picks up where the previous issue left off, and uses that as a springboard to launch the book’s biggest story yet, giving us a interesting story that’s got mistrust, betrayal, and the appearance of a classic X-foe. The mystery of who is the future killer of Kamala Khan still needs to be solved, this issue tries too hard to make it seem like it’s a certain team member, which makes me think it’s a red herring. Whether it’s the fact that things are finally coming together or the change of artist, this is the best issue of Inglorious X-Force so far. It reminded me of reading X-Force in the 90s, in the best way possible. While the art by Michael Sta. Maria in previous issues was solid, it was also kind of boring. Philip Tan, in comparison, is a breath of fresh air. While I usually don’t like manga-inspired art in superhero books, his style looks really dynamic and fantastic, sometimes reminiscent of early Greg Capullo. Sure, there’s a wonky face here and there, but overall, it’s engaging and interesting. I’ve had a lot of fun with IXF #4.
