Doctor Otto Octavius is dying, and the only man that can help him is Tony Stark. If Tony doesn’t agree to help then Doc Ock will kill innocent people. Can Iron Man weigh the death of one madman against the lives of hundreds of innocents?
That brings us to the writing, an excellently written (REVIEWERS NOTE: From this point in the review forward Ill only be talking about the Tony-Otto scenes) issue that has very little going on besides two characters talking... and it rocked my socks off! Tony was a bit bland in this issue spouting on nonsense about doing the right thing, obviously trying to buy time. But Ock... Ock was in his prime, he was just greeeat! Read the issue folks, I recommend it. Read Full Review
Its hard not to imagine Invincible Iron Man as being in dialogue with the films (and its no secret that the two have informed one another), so its refreshing to see a villain that isnt a giant armored villain. While the standard superhero trope is for the hero to fight some perverse mirror version of himself (which is the real reason why characters like Venom endure), this doesnt have to be so literal. Fraction posits Doctor Octopus as a perversion of Tony Stark, but hes physically different enough to make him an exciting foe. Read Full Review
Visually, this comic book rules. The characters look consistent and have similar recognizable facial features throughout. Now, Im not a fan of Larroca reusing some of the panels and blowing them in some shots as the line thickness loses its impact and it doesnt make for a nicer picture. If hes going to reuse material, he should at least adjust the line width. Read Full Review
Something for everyone. You get the talky battle of wits and the Pepper Potts action scenes. Invincible Iron Man readers are going to have to get especially grumbly to find major fault with this one. Read Full Review
Much like I said last month, I was not expecting a story in Invincible Iron Man centered around "fixing" Doctor Octopus to be as enjoyable as it is. But here we are, and I'm still loving the latest arc, "Fix Me." Fraction and Larroca, as far as I'm concerned, can pull off anything in Invincible Iron Man and make it seem interesting and look cool. One of the best compliments I can give this series is that it's yet to bore me. Read Full Review
I won't promise or predict any Iron Man action in the next issue, so if you want more of that, maybe you should hold off for a few more issues. Read Full Review
I've dinked and dunked my way through this title, never adding it to my regular stack, but very frequently checking in. This issue " this storyline " has me rethinking that as I'm already invested in it significantly. I'm just hoping we get to see more of the Sinister Six here. After all, this is almost looking like a fair fight right now. Read Full Review
