WELCOME TO THE SOCIETY OF THE ETERNAL DAWN. WE CANCEL APOCALYPSES. Tenuous alliances with both Liminal and his ancient enemies bring Magik and Moonstar to Sin City! Can the mystic mutants trust either side? And has Magik found a new calling in the Society's mission or a new addiction?
So...the precise nature of the continuity doesnt make a whole heck of a lot of sense, but between Allens writing and Horaks art, it really feels like this is Dani and Illyana from the 1980s all grown-up and working together as a pair of adults who knew each other in high. school back in the 1980s. I mean...they still look like theyre in their TWENTIES and theres been a lot of story thats passed between them over decades, but its cool to hang out with a couple of old friends in a new issue thats so well-written. Magik continues to be an exciting and dark journey for Illyana, and now alongside Dani and Liminal. I look forward to seeing what comes next! Read Full Review
Magik #8 is a strong issue that ties up some character conflicts while pushing the story forward to a logical conclusion. Allen has done a good job of tying up loose ends and setting the stage for a strong finale in the next two issues. Read Full Review
Majik just doesn't warrant her own series. She's not a strong enough character. Now the demon is in Cal's body. We have some awkward dialogue between Majik and Moonstar where each of them is looking for the other to lead, and the demon keeps giving the orders instead. I thought this was a mini-series, but if this is an ongoing then this is a drop for me.
