The creative team of Jonathan Maberry and Goran Parlov take you on a journey into the darkest territory in this Marvel Knights limited series. A terrible plague has swept the Earth, turning everyone – human, hero, villain, god and monster — into sadistic cannibal predators. As Spider-Man, the Hulk, the Thing and other infected start a feeding frenzy, the world falls in a wave of insatiable violence. Now, five years later, one man hunts the wasteland that was New York City. One man stands against the hordes of monsters who hunt the night. He is the Punisher, the Last Gun on Earth. And he has an endless supply of ammunition. Parental Amore
This a great companion piece to Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe and definitely something you shouldn't overlook. Given the sticker shock, though, it might be worth it to wait for the trade. I hadn't paid attention to Maberry's name before this but, after looking him up on Comic Vine's trusty databases, I realized he was also behind the awesome Doom War, which shows he's got quite a range. I'm definitely going to be watching for his name in the future. Read Full Review
This mini series has appealing idea and the first issue proves that it has an entertaining story to tell. Frank has a mission to save potential innocents. There are other super powered heroes left and presumably villains as well. With many of his allies already taken out there are still some interesting possibilities for face-offs for the next three issues. This is a good start to this mini series. I know I will be checking out the rest of the series and I recommend any one else interested in the creators, character or genre to as well. Read Full Review
Where Jonathan Maberry goes astray is in devoting too much time up front towards explaining the origins of the outbreak. Too little shooting of zombies actually takes place in this issue. I won't say the origin of the plague and the personal nature of Frank's quest aren't intriguing, but those revelations should have taken a backseat initially. At four issues, the series really needs to offer readers more of what it advertises if it expects them to return for future installments. Read Full Review
This is a fun trade, filled with mayhem and carnage weve come to expect from a Punisher book, but I cant help but wonder that this would have been a better ride under the MAX imprint, to really cut loose with the violence and gore. Still, its nice to see The Hulk, Deadpool and Daredevil get their asses handed to them by The Punisher.
