SECRET INVASION TIE-IN! See how Elektra was replaced by a Skrull warrior!
If you buy this book, you'll blow through it in 5 minutes, but these are high quality minutes you're paying for. Brian Bendis allows Khoi Pham to do the heavy lifting and the result is a strong, memorable issue. But still, all told it's got to go down as another winner in the string of great issues the Avengers books have enjoyed lately. Along with Spider-Woman, Elektra is probably one of the characters most deserving of this type of Secret Invasion spotlight issue, and Bendis does the character and event a great service while being sure not to give everything away. It doesn't really add anything to the Secret Invasion story and just barely adds any new information on the Elektra replacement while undermining the entire Super Skrull threat, but it's still an entertaining read if you can turn off the brain for a little bit and just enjoy the action. The reason for the 2.5 bullets rating is mostly due to the quick read time this issue requires. When you are dropping three dollars on a single comic book, it's easy to feel cheated unless the book takes over ten minutes to read while leaving you with a great lasting impression. Mighty Avengers #16 accomplishes none of these. While it's cool to see the genesis of the Skrull invasion--as well as where along the line Elektra got body-snatched--the price of admission is too steep. Bendis should have thrown a little more meat on the bones of this issue, and I would have been much happier. Read Full Review
Mighty Avengers #16 was a rather average read. You certainly do not need to read Mighty Avengers #16 in order to enjoy the story over on Secret Invasion. This issue also may not appeal to many Avengers fans since the story pretty much has nothing to do with a single Avenger. On the other hand, action fans will probably love all of the furious fighting that we get in Mighty Avengers #16. If you are in the mood for a huge mindless brawlfest then you might want to get this issue. Read Full Review
