A quick note for newer fans of Thanos. It's not entirely necessary, but I believe you will be able to enjoy Infinity Revelation more with a passing familiarity to Infinity Gauntlet and modern Marvel Cosmic. Thanos is big news these days and what could be better than having Jim Starlin return to the character? Starlin has told many epic stories with the character and it's great to revisit his take on the character. The story obviously doesn't take place during the current timeline but we do get a nice completely self-contained story. This is the Thanos that likes to contemplate things. There is a big massive cosmic journey that only Thanos and Starlin could pull off. Fans of the character, especially during Starlin's time, should definitely check this out. Thanos The Infinity Revelation is an extremely smart, challenging and superbly drawn book. It may not be to everyone's tastes but it is a love letter to fans of classic Marvel cosmic stories and to Starlin's two most endearing creations and it achieves its goal of reminding readers why Thanos should be feared and respected. In the end it may not answer every question or provide the outcome some readers may want but as Thanos himself reflects, it is much more about the journey than the end goal. Read Full Review

The cosmic metamorphosis, the universe-altering event, that unfolds in Starlin's story looks on the surface like any other crisis across infinite worlds, like the same sort of cosmic reordering that comic book readers have grown accustomed to over the years, the same sort of galactic show-down with god-like powers that Starlin himself has given us so many times before. But, as is sometimes the case when Starlin is at his best, the revelation here is personal before it is cosmic. The personality, and the madness, of Thanos and Warlock shape reality itself; the universe, like the nothingness that came before it, is desecrated by their self-awareness. And as it turns out, the greatest transformations in this story occur not among the stars, not in the above and beyond, not in the court of Infinity and Eternity, but in the characters themselves. That's not to say that the book doesn't have warts. The price tag is a bit prohibitive ($24.99 hardcover / $19.99 digital) for what feels like two long issues) and the ultimate consequences of this tale have seemingly no ramifications on future storylines, so only the long-time Infinity consumers will find it worthwhile. The scope of this story is epic, and when it's all over, Starlin makes sure to point out that while everything might still look the same, there are some very subtle differences; differences that play right into Starlin's aforementioned reclamation, but also serving as the groundwork for possible future storylines. Ever since his post-credits scene in The Avengers, Thanos has been something of a hot property, and following his recent appearance in Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy, interest in him has never been higher as people desperately scramble to find out more about the smirking, purple-skinned Titan. This may not perhaps be the best jumping-on point for newcomers to gain an understanding of Thanos " particularly the Emperor Palpatine-eque Josh Brolin version " but for long-time fans of the character, this provides a unique insight into the inner workings of his psyche, and shows a master comicbook craftsman carving out something truly memorable with some of his favourite tools. It's a trip down memory lane to see Jim Starlin take on Thanos again, and for the most part, this graphic novel is a surprising triumph - probably because the artist's vision is so absolute. There's so much comic book philosophy and grandeur that's tossed around like stardust in The Infinity Revelation, even if the titular revelation is still somewhat difficult to follow. But long-time fans of Marvel's cosmic lineup will highly enjoy this nostalgia-fest - and may even pick up a convert or two along the way. Read Full Review

If you enjoyed Starlin's previous work with Thanos, definitely give this book a read. It is well worth your time. If that wasn't your cup of tea, don't expect anything else here. This, while entertaining, left me wanting a lot more and having a number of unanswered questions. Will Starlin be given the opportunity to create a modern Infinity trilogy with these characters, or is The Infinity Revelation a one-off story? Time will tell. Read Full Review

In the end, this OGN entertained me, especially when looking at it as a contained story and not a part of any continuity. The ties to continuity did not enhance this OGN at all, though I would argue the primary fan of this tale would be looking for continuity ties anyway. Starlin's Thanos is entertaining and his take on the Mad Titan will feel right at home for readers of Infinity Gauntlet. I will note again this is not the Thanos from Infinity or Thanos Rising, but if you are looking for a return to the “good ol' days”, you will most likely enjoy this tale. I'll be giving this one multiple reads, as the concepts are definitely worth visiting more than once, and any time Mr. Starlin wants to return to write and pencil Thanos I will be back to read more. The more psychedelic pages of this book are worth the price of admission alone. This is pure Marvel Cosmic awesomness. Its not exactly the powerful story I wanted, but serves as a great addition to an already insanely appealing part of the Marvel universe. Thanos will always be alluring in a way most cant quite explain, and nobody seems to draw him like Jim Starlin, its just a shame many have written him better. Read Full Review
