The Weekly Crisis - Kirk Warren Oct 16, 2008

If you have even the slightest inkling of an interest in the Ultimate Universe, this is a must have by all accounts. Even without any interest in the Ultimate Universe I think this issue stands on its own as a great story. Read Full Review

Major Spoilers - Stephen Schleicher Oct 22, 2008

I like the Ultimate Universe. It's about the only Marvel titles I read on a regular basis with Ultimate Spider-Man appearing on my monthly pull list for the last six years. I enjoyed Ultimate Origins, as it had plenty of "Oh Snap!" moments that made for an enjoyable read. This issue is a great closing chapter, and I love the big reveal, however I wish there were about four more pages to give us a hint of things to come. This is a good issue, but not a perfect one. I'm giving Ultimate Origins #5 4 out of 5 Stars. Read Full Review

The end of this story feels less like an ending and more like an open request for readers to buy more Ultimate books. To see a proper conclusion to this story, I'll likely need to pick up the Ultimate annuals and Ultimatum, as well as whatever other tie-ins Marvel has planned. The sheer fact that I'm willing to do so means Bendis did his job with this one, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - James Hunt Oct 21, 2008

It's frustrating that a series that started with a large amount of promise should stumble so badly at the end. It's a wellspring of missed opportunities, and represents Bendis' most genuinely lackluster effort in some time. It feels more like it was compiled from his story notes than a comic he wrote. Worryingly, when even Bendis struggles to make the Ultimate Universe interesting, it doesn't bode well for the immediate future. Let's hope Ultimatum justifies the impact it's already had on this series. Read Full Review

Chuck's Comic Of The Day - Chuck Oct 19, 2008

If the line could live up to that title's quality, I'd still be along for the ride - but as it is, I'm losing interest fast. And Ultimate Origins may have sealed the deal. Read Full Review
