Cappuccio delivers stunning visuals throughout the issue. I love the visual style of the story a lot and how immersive the art is throughout it. Read Full Review

Logan’s final confrontation with Magik is just a formality in this very safe finale. Condon ties up loose ends in a rather fast fashion with the script. The art team hit their key points while closing this chapter. One door has closed as the final endgame has arrived. Read Full Review

Ultimate Wolverine #16 brings the series to a lackluster end, with the sparse, unoriginal plot and writing making it feel as if nothing really mattered. Alessandro Cappuccio and Bryan Valenza shine on artistic duties, however. Read Full Review

Overall, Ultimate Wolverine ends with a disappointing whimper that betrays the big splash it initially made. Weak characters and shallow world-building prevent this story from fulfilling the promise it had in its first arc. While I am eager to see what the individuals in this team do next, I can’t say this particular story will be counted among their favorites. Read Full Review

What He Does Ain’t Pretty As I said at the beginning, Ultimate Wolverine #16 isn’t a bad book; it’s just nothing special. If I remember correctly, the series was originally set for 12 issues, then it got extended to 16 due to high sales. These last 4 issues definitely have that tacked-on “oh, by the way” feeling to them. Like most of the Ultimate Universe, this book has drawn to a close not with a bang, but with a whimper. Ultimate Wolverine #16 is a disappointing ending for the series. For all the build up of Ultimate Wolverine, Jean Grey, and Magik’s characters we got an ending that felt completely rushed. That is best exemplified by the lackluster final confrontation between Ultimate Wolverine and Magik. When all is said and done this Ultimate Wolverine series lands as one that will be easy to forget because of this disappointing end. Read Full Review
