    Comics Bulletin - Jason Cornwell

This issue does evoke a much simpler time for the back-story to take place, as while the accident where Jessica seemingly gains her power has an very powerful element of tragedy to it, the issue itself is very caught up in the idea that the early days of Marvel it was quite easy to stumble your way into an accident where one was granted superpowers. Now the issue does manage to evoke a very old school feel, there are some moments that are quite jarring when placed in the Silver Age environment (e.g. the scene in Jessica's bedroom, the horrific car accident), but I suspect these were purposely inserted into the story to effective shatter the illusion that the rest of the book managed to so lovingly create. Still even with these more serious minded moments the issue is very much a recreation of the more simple era in which it is suppose to be set, and Jessica's time as an alienated teen is very nicely realized. The issue also delivers a wonderful man on the street look at one of the grea Read Full Review

    Comics Bulletin - David Kozlowski

Bendis has long intimated that Jessica is suppressing serious emotional issues. The events in this issue, contrived as they are, really don't do much to explain this. Given the pacing I don't see how it can be sufficiently explained by the end of the next issue. I hope that there is a point in revealing Jessica's origin and this isn't just a bridge onto the next story arc. Part of the appeal of Jessica Jones is the mystery of her past, and now that is potentially stripped naked. Read Full Review

After 22 mostly amazing issues we finally get to learn more about the powers of Jessica Jones. This issue shows that Jessica has been around super powered beings for a lot of her life before acquiring her own. The art has a bit of a different look but it still really works. Some of this information was long overdue so its great to see.

I think it's good, even if it's so sudden. I like the stylization of this issue and her connection to the Spider-Man. I just think that her origin is super default. You know, just another accident with some radioactive chemicals... Who did Bendis tried to amaze with this?

Of course Bendis had to include a Spider Man retcon in this series. Of course he did. I know it was minor but God you know how much I hate retcons. And the art was awful
