Hip-Hop, Sci-Fi and Kung Fu all hit the turn-tables for the mash-up mix of the year! Cartoonist/force of nature Yehudi Mercado (Pantalones, TX, Rocket Salvage) sets his sights on 1980s Brooklyn and Wax, a young mix-master who scratches the perfect beat and accidentally summons a UFO that transports his family, best friend, and current crush to the robot-dominated planet of Discopia. Now Wax and his crew must master the intergalactic musical martial art of Sci-Fu to fight the power and save Earth. Word to your mother.

Comic Crusaders - Bryan Spaulding Feb 19, 2018

Sci-Fu wraps itself up in an inter-dimensional blanket of Kung-Fu, Hip Hop fun. Give credit to the creator Yehudi Mercado for not only writing a fun and compelling story, but animating the entire world himself. Mercado proves to be a rising star in comics with this book and we should all take notice of his talent. I would highly recommend picking up this graphic novel, popping in an old Run DMC cassette tape, and having some fun. Read Full Review

Black Nerd Problems - Mikkel Snyder Mar 2, 2018

By the time I finished reading Sci-Fu, I had a huge smile on my face. I'd be very excited to see a sequel or animated adaptation. Mercado's comic could just as well be a beautiful storyboard. Sci-Fu was fun. It had fun bridging the generation gaps. It will be a great gift for the young adults in your life that you may want to get into comics, or maybe just for yourself. Read Full Review

    Graphic Policy - Brett Mar 14, 2018

There's a lot here I want explored more, I want to see another volume. There's some elements that could have been fleshed out more but overall, this is an entertaining debut. I'd say it's unexpected but Mercado is a talent where you expect something as good as this. Read Full Review

Comic Bastards - Sam King Apr 12, 2018

The bottom line is that this one just needed some more editing to nail things out and give them a glossy finish. The writer can clearly tell a story, but they just need to finesse the way they go about it. Read Full Review
