With his movie locked and Los Angeles nearly destroyed it's time to get the hell out of town. T-Rex and the gang are off to Vegas to celebrate with some fear and loathing. It's one last hallucinationatory hurrah as the doomsday clock ticks down to the premiere of Presidents Day!
Love it, hate it or just plain don't understand it, one thing you will have to concede about The Auteur, especially in this final issue, is that it has never been complacent. It has never been the norm, presenting a wholly unique story about creativity, industry, the creative industry and itself as its own pariah. The Auteuris different. And that has made all the difference. Read Full Review
Luigi Anderson's coloring is so good. Colorists don't get enough credit, but he is one to look out for. If you're creating a comic, contact this guy. He adds another level to everything he works on and I can't imagine this series without him. Without any of these three guys actually. A brilliant team that has made an exciting, irreverent, hilarious comic series that, as insane as it may be, asks readers of all types to come in and enjoy the crazy, if only for a little bit. Much like the darkly comedic work of Warren Ellis (ex: Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.), Auteur finds a way to laugh at Hollywood excess without solely making fun. Nathan T. Rex has finished his film, Presidents Day, which means the first volume of this willfully bonkers comic is just sitting there for the taking. It will be interesting to see if Auteur stays in theaters past this five issue run. The story would clearly have to change, but based on this run, creators Rick Spears and James Callahan have plenty more dirty, dirty tricks up their sleeves. Read Full Review
I didn't realize this is the finale, but this went out on a strong note! Great series, highly recommended.
Coby's Top 5 Comic of the Week!
The Auteur takes everything I love about those disgusting cartoons that prefer shockingly gross antics to plot (Beavis and Butthead, Superjail, Trip Tank, etc) and gives it gumption. There's dangerous experimental drugs that make your every orifice bleed. There's a love story. There's a murdering psychopath. There's a dude so obsessed with booty he throws his whole directing career away. There's a stripper with a boner. There's even a throwback to one of my favorite movies of all time, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. This comic is crazy, disgusting fun.
