    COMICON - Olly MacNamee

Sensual and dangerous, globe-trotting gun runner, Joanna Tan, returns in another breathless, high-energy espionage adventure that mixes exotic, extravagant locations with kick-ass action with ‘Gun Honey: Double Down’ #1. And all delivered by a woman more than comfortable with her own sexuality and how to use it. Read Full Review

Ultimately, Gun Honey: Doubles Down #1 strikes a perfect balance between old-school action cinema and a fierce protagonist. Coming into this cold without knowing the character, I left completely hooked. It gives you just enough answers to satisfy your curiosity while leaving the broader mystery wide open. Ang Hor Kheng crafts some beautifully detailed, visually exciting and definitely adult imagery throughout this issue. This issue is definitely not for children and I really loved that it takes chances with the imagery in service to the story being told. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke

Gun Honey: Doubles Down #1 knows exactly what kind of comic it wants to be and commits fully to its blend of espionage, action, and pulp sensibilities. Joanna Tan continues to be a compelling protagonist, balancing confidence, intelligence, and resourcefulness throughout a mission that quickly escalates into danger. While the book's approach to sexuality and visual presentation won't work for every reader, the strong artwork, clever spy-thriller setup, and energetic action sequences make for an entertaining start to a new adventure. Comic Crusaders - Al Mega

By the final pages, Gun Honey Doubles Down has done exactly what a first issue should do. It reintroduces Joanna Tan with confidence, throws her into a bigger arena, gives the creative team room to flex, and ends on a clean “oh, we are not done here” hook. This is a slick, mature, dangerous spy-pulp launch with enough action to keep the adrenaline up and enough intrigue to keep the brain chewing after the smoke clears. Titan Comics and Hard Case Crime have another sharp one on their hands. Joanna Tan is back, the mission is nasty, the enemies are multiplying, and the real target is still out there. Somebody better call for backup. Or don’t. Joanna probably already stole the backup’s gun. Read Full Review

Despite those flaws, I genuinely enjoyed the adventure and stylish action sequences throughout Gun Honey: Doubles Down, and things should only get more frenetic and action-packed from here if the ending is anything to go by. If you’re a fan of slick spy action with a hearty dose of pulp thrills, Gun Honey: Doubles Down #1 might just be the book you’ve been waiting for. Read Full Review
